Greg Marcum joined the firm in December 2005. Greg grew up in East Texas and was active in sports and agricultural pursuits. In 1985 he earned a BS in mechanical engineering from Texas A & M University in College Station. Greg’s engineering career included work for Northern Telecom, Inc. designing layouts and electrical connections for digital telephone switching systems and designing and coordinating architectural and equipment additions and physical plant operations at Wadley Regional Medical Center as the Assistant Director of Engineering. From 1990 – 1992 Greg worked as an engineering manager of operations for a firm providing support to Saudi Aramco’s crude oil pumping in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. After end of the first Gulf War Greg returned to the U.S. to work for the steel manufacturing firm of Quanex Corporation at the company’s steel pipe plant in Rosenberg, Texas plant. He obtained Professional Engineer’s license in October 1993.
Greg began his pursuit of a law career in 1994. In 1997, he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center. While in law school Greg clerked for U.S. District Judge John D. Rainey in the U.S. Southern District of Texas – Houston Division and served as Business Editor of the Houston Journal of International Law. Greg also clerked for the law firm of Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson through the end of law school before joining the firm of McFall, Sherwood & Sheehy.
As a lawyer, Greg has represented both plaintiffs and defendants and handled a wide variety of cases involving commercial disputes, construction defects, maritime injuries, products-liability, personal injury, real estate and the growing area of technology litigation. He has defended corporate and individual clients in civil damage and criminal liability cases.
Greg is a member of the Texas Bar, the Houston Bar Association and the Texas Aggie Bar Association. He has handled cases in state district courts from East Texas to the Rio Grande Valley and in federal court in both the Southern and Western Districts of Texas. In addition to his normal case load Greg has represented over 200 land-owner clients involved in delinquent property tax cases in Harris County. Greg is active in the community through the Houston Bar Association and his church.
He and his wife Angela have been married since October 1994 and are the proud parents of Carter (12) and Mikayla (11) and both work hard to foster the education of their children. In addition to spending time with his family, Greg enjoys several outdoor sports and maintaining a tree farm in East Texas. Greg makes time for regular fitness activities through the YMCA and periodically participates in 5K road races in the Houston area. |
